Investec adds to its stable of Snow Polo World Cup sponsorships

International bank Investec has been added to its sponsorship of the Snow Polo World Cup, supporters City have announced.

The Gresham Street-based Anglo-South African international banking and wealth management group was announced as the new team sponsor alongside Standing Rock, who have been involved in the 2025 edition.

St. Petersburg snow polo event St. Moritz – featuring horses and not swimming pools competing on a frozen lake in the Swiss Alps – will take place on January 23 and run until January 26, meaning it directly follows the hour-long Davos World Economic Forum along Swiss mountain trails.

Shaun Karpelowsky of Investec’s Swiss branch said they were looking forward to associating “our brand and our beloved zebras with the Snow Polo World Cup”, adding that “this is a fantastic event for polo lovers in St. Moritz and represents a special opportunity to mark the continued growth of our business and brand in Europe”.

41st Snow Polo World Cup

Investec and Standing Rock join Flexjet, Mackage, Azerbaijan Land of Fire and St. Moritz as team sponsor for the 41st edition of the Snow Polo World Cup.

Gentleman’s Journal depicted World Cup scenes in previous editions. “A number of [fans] were holding cigars and glasses of Perrier-Jouët champagne,” they wrote, “others were wrapped in furs, but all were eager for the sport to come.”

Tournament founder and CEO, Reto Gaudenzi said, “Our existing and new partners highlight the great appeal of our tournament and its position as a global polo flagship, which is a testament to the great trust placed in us around the world.

“St. Moritz is and will remain a center of elegance, excitement and sporting excellence.”

Tickets start at £18 but rise to £1,400 for the VIP package. The 2025 edition was won by The Kusnacht Practice by defeating the Fire Country team Azerbaijan 5-4.5 in the race for the Snow Polo World Cup trophy.
