Gilabola.com – FC Barcelona coach, Hansi Flick, confirmed that his two young stars — Lamine Yamal and Fermin Lopez — have returned to training ahead of the La Liga match against Girona FC. But neither will play the full 90 minutes yet. In a condition where the squad is limping because many players are injured, Flick emphasized that his team will fight hard and take advantage of every opportunity available.
Focus on Solutions, Not Problems
Injuries to key players such as Dani Olmo, Robert Lewandowski and Ferran Torres meant that Flick had to rack his brains in rotating the squad. “This is a situation that I cannot change. We have to find a solution. We need players who can play from the start, who can play 90 minutes,” he said.
Even though Lamine and Fermin have returned, Flick is aware that both of them still need to be managed carefully. “I know that when we are at our best, we can beat anyone. The most important thing for me is to fight from the first minute and play our best football.”
When asked about the storm of injuries that hit, Flick just shook his head slightly. “Of course we lost players. It’s not easy. We have to manage this situation. Maybe tomorrow the players from La Masia will have a chance.”
Lewandowski and Raphinha: Professional and Crucial
Flick also discussed the condition of Lewandowski, who had just defended the national team even though he felt uncomfortable. “Robert said that after the first half, he played with bandages and felt fine. Situations like this are difficult for players,” he explained.
He added that Raphinha also experienced fatigue due to the long journey. “Raphinha is one of our most important players. We miss him a lot, but he will be back soon.”
Flick praised Lewandowski’s dedication to his fitness. “I don’t think there is a player who looks after his body as well as Robert. I spoke directly with him, and he feels this is not a serious injury. He is very responsible for his body. Maybe only Cristiano Ronaldo is equal to him in this regard.”
Regarding the possibility of Raphinha appearing in the upcoming El Clásico, Flick is optimistic. “That’s our plan. We hope he’s available. Sometimes there are obstacles, but the progress is good.”
Dispelling Yamal Rumors and Maintaining Team Harmony
Several rumors said that Yamal was late for training before the match against Paris Saint-Germain FC, but Flick immediately denied it. “I want to know where that news came from. It’s complete nonsense. Nobody at the club has said anything like that to me. The club has full confidence in my work. If anyone says that, they’re lying.”
Flick also emphasizes the boundaries between Yamal’s personal and professional life. “The most important thing for me is that when he’s here, he works hard. When he’s off, that’s his business. I don’t interfere.”
With an incomplete squad, Flick also talked about the importance of collective pressing. “I always say, when defending, all players have to be involved. The attackers want us to create chances, but the defenders also want the attackers to press too. We have to fight for every title. Even though many players are absent, this is an opportunity for young players and those who rarely play.”
Miami Controversy and the Team’s Future
Flick did not shy away when asked about the controversial match against Villarreal CF which will be held in Miami. “The players are not happy, neither am I. But La Liga has decided and we will play. After that there is the Christmas holiday, then we fly to Saudi Arabia. This is a situation we respect.”
The coach also praised Eric Garcia’s development and expressed satisfaction with Frenkie de Jong’s contract extension. “Eric has developed a lot, plays well in various positions. It’s nice to have a player like him. I’m also happy that De Jong has extended his contract. Everything is going in the right direction,” he concluded.
