Chelsea don’t want to pay dearly for Mike Maignan, even though you need a new goalkeeper

Gilabola.com – Chelsea reportedly reluctant to meet the price demand requested by AC Milan for goalkeeper Mike Maignan. The West London club considered that the value of Rp. 552 billion, which was set by Milan, was too high.

According to their internal assessment, the French national team goalkeeper was more appropriate to be valued at around Rp 221 billion, especially with his contract at the San Siro which was left in one year.

Maignan himself has not extended his contract with AC Milan. So far, there has been no official offer proposed by Chelsea or other clubs to bring him.

The 29 -year -old player won Ligue 1 with Lille in 2021 before moving to Italy. In Serie A, Maignan managed to lift the League trophy in 2022 and secured the Supercoppa Italiana title in 2024.

Even so, Chelsea still show the need to add ammunition in the position of goalkeeper. Currently they have five names in the squad: Robert Sanchez, Filip Jorgensen, Djordje Petrovic, Mike Penders, and Kepa Arrizabalaga.

But none of them really made management and fans confident to face a new season in the Champions League and challenge the Premier League title.

While the discussion about Maignan was still hanging, Chelsea moved quickly in the attack line. The club is conducting further talks to attract Joao Pedro from Brighton. The Brazilian striker was the target of a number of teams, but Chelsea were among those who had met with the players since last month.

Joao Pedro appeared quite productive last season with a score of 10 goals and four assists in the Premier League. The player bought by Brighton from Watford for Rp 663 billion in 2023 was considered to have the potential to strengthen the front lines of Stamford Bridge.
