Coldplay has resigned the last two dates of 10 of their performances at the Wembley Stadium due to an attack on London Underground.
Band Chris Martin-Fronted said the attack, who would see members of the Rail, Maritime and Transport Union (RMT) in the tube took industry action at different times from September 5 for seven days, had made the show unlikely to be carried out on 7 and 8 September.
The statement from the band posted on social media reads: “We regret announcing that, because of the planned industrial action at London Underground, we were forced to reschedule our last two concerts in running the current Wembley Stadium.
“Without a tube service, it is impossible to bring 82,000 people to the concert and house again safely, and therefore there is no license for events that can be given for the evenings of 7 and 8 September.
“To avoid canceling the show, one of our choice is to reschedule.”
The band confirmed the show on September 7 will move to 6 September and the show on September 8 will move to 12 September.
The band added: “We are very sorry for inevitable disappointment, frustration, and discomfort caused by this situation.”
Coldplay said the ticket will remain valid for their rescheduled date, but every fan who cannot attend an event that is scheduled to be rescheduled can get a full refund on their tickets from their purchase point before the afternoon on September 2.
Tickets returned will make general sales at 11 am on September 3 via Ticketmaster.
The band confirmed the show on August 30, August 31, September 3 and September 4 will run on schedule.
Cold sweat for Coldplay fans
The Wembley Run will see Coldplay as the first action to play 10 dates at the National Football Stadium in the same year, which is the most seen, breaking the record with eight shows held by Taylor Swift and taking it.
So far, the concert – which is part of the band The Spheres World Tour – has seen them display songs like Paradise, Trouble and we pray.
About 10% of the band’s results from the Wembley show will be donated to The Music Venue Trust to help support the British grass root venue and upcoming artists.
The show at Wembley is being powered by 100 percent renewable energy without the use of generators.
Solar energy is included in the network through the new energy and ecosystem restoration project, at the Higher Power Farm, in Western England.
Formed in the late 1990s, Coldplay has reached two singles number one English and 10 album number one British. They are best known for songs like Yellow, Clocks and Viva La Vida.
