Persib is very disappointed! The team coached by Bojan Hodak still failed to advance to the quarter-finals of the AFC Champions League Two (ACL Two) despite winning 1-0.
Yes, a narrow 1-0 win was not enough for Persib Bandung to catch up with the three-point deficit recorded by Ratchaburi FC in the first leg of the ACL Two round of 16.
The Maung Bandung team must score at least four goals to be able to beat the aggregate lead of their Thai opponents in the second leg which will take place at the Gelora Bandung Lautan Api Stadium, Wednesday evening 18 February 2026.
However, only Andrew Jung’s goal was the difference in that match. The rest, Hodak’s squad had to fight hard to score additional goals, and even then nothing came of fruition.
Persib instead had to lose its striker, Uilliam Barros, who was sent off at the end of the first half, due to a hard tackle on an opposing player. Luckily, Persib didn’t concede after they only had 10 players.
After the match, Andrew Jung admitted that he was very disappointed that his team had been eliminated from the ACL Two 2025-2026 season. The goal that Jung presented in the 39th minute was not enough to take Persib further in this tournament.
“It’s true what the coach said, we played well in the first half. We had opportunities and managed to score a goal,” said Jung after the match, as reported on the club’s official website.
However, Jung admitted that the match situation became more difficult after Ratchaburi really played defensively, and made it difficult for Persib to build attacks.
Persib actually managed to show a determined appearance from the early minutes. Hodak’s squad has the ambition to catch up and advance to the next phase of this tournament.
The Maung Bandung squad actually even put the ball into the opponent’s goal when the match had only been running for six minutes. Unfortunately, Berguinho’s header was later disallowed by the referee due to offside.
Again through Berguinho’s action, Persib again got a chance through Berguinho’s action in the 22nd minute. However, Berguinho’s shot seemed to have no power, until the ball was secured by the opposing goalkeeper.
Deadly in the Second Half
Bojan Hodak immediately racked his brains and made substitutions in the second half, bringing on Layvin Kurzawa and Beckham Putra.
Federico Barba tried to head Thom Haye’s corner kick right in the 50th minute, which unfortunately still bounced over the opponent’s crossbar.
Kurzawa, who was only introduced in the second half, also had a golden opportunity which should have brought Persib to double their score. However, the Ratchaburi goalkeeper managed to make a brilliant save.
The 1-0 score for Persib Bandung’s victory lasted until the match was over, and Bojan Hodak’s squad had to accept the fact that they failed to advance to the quarter-finals.
