Coca-Cola soft drink giant has summoned bankers for exploration talks about the sale of the Costa coffee chain.
Coca-Cola Company, who acquired Costa more than six years ago, had held talks with a number of potential bidders including private equity companies, according to Sky News.
Lazard investment bank works with a company to explore the request from prospective buyers.
The agreement will mark the sales of the largest high street coffee chain in the UK. Coca-Cola bought Costa on January 3, 2019 after sealing the agreement with the FTSE 100 Whitbread giant worth £ 3.9 billion.
The initial offer is set to be submitted in early fall even though soft drink makers can still decide to dispose of sales.
But the analysts told Sky News, a sale could mark a large loss for Coca-Cola with an estimated cost of Costa which was almost half paid in 2019.
Although this will not make a giant drink, which reports net income of almost £ 47 billion for 2024 – up three percent from the previous year.
Pathetic to Costa
Costa fell to red in his latest financial year in accordance with the account submitted to the Companies House.
The company lost £ 9.6 million in 2023, even when revenue increased to £ 1.22 billion from £ 1.11 billion.
This follows the coffee chain that seal the profit before tax of £ 245.9 million in 2022.
This business quotes “inflationary pressure on the cost of goods, including energy and payroll, and a decline in the value of the company’s investment in two of its subsidiaries resulting in operating losses for this year.”
Net financial costs reached £ 5 million for that period and its dividend revenue was cut from £ 1 million from £ 245 million.
During this year the average number of people employed by Costa Coffee increased from 17,344 to 17,809.
The company has more than 2,000 shops throughout the UK with more than 3,000 globally.
