Gilabola.com – Chelsea are under the heavy pressure of UEFA after the European soccer body set a sentence that has the potential to interfere with their plans for the Champions League next season.
The West London club has been subject to unconditional fines of Rp 600 billion due to violations of the Rules of Financial Fair Play (FFP).
But even more worrying, UEFA also set additional conditions in the form of financial targets of Rp 2 trillion that must be met so that Chelsea can register their new players into European competition.
Four names that are most likely affected if this target is not achieved is Liam Delap, Joao Pedro, as well as a number of other new summer recruits.
It is feared they will not be able to strengthen Chelsea in the Champions League next season if the club fails to meet UEFA requirements. In addition, additional fines of up to Rp 1.15 trillion can also be imposed if the financial target is not achieved.
This UEFA decision is part of collective sanctions against a number of clubs that will perform in European competition, including Aston Villa. For Chelsea himself, this is a landslide blow that came in the middle of an attempt to rebuild the team after a few inconsistent seasons.
Player sales are the key
To avoid further sanctions and ensure that his new players can perform on the European stage, Chelsea are now required to make massive sales.
Three players have been released, namely Bashir Humphreys and two goalkeepers, Kepa Arrizabalaga and Marcus Bettinelli, who when combined generated funds of around Rp 443 billion. But that number is still far from the target of Rp 2 trillion needed.
Some names have entered the buyer’s radar club. Arsenal are said to be interested in Noni Hikeke, while Djordje Petrovic became the target of Sunderland and Galatasaray with a value of around Rp 554 billion.
Raheem Sterling is also almost certain to be asked to find a new club after the loan period at Arsenal ended. Trevoh Chalobah, who was previously called back from Crystal Palace, was also widely discussed in the transfer market.
Joao Felix (AC Milan), Renato Veiga (Juventus), and Axel Disasi (Aston Villa) who have returned from their loan period, are said to be removed permanently.
Meanwhile, the future of Christopher Nkunku at Stamford Bridge was also uncertain after the presence of Liam Delap who could shift his position on the front lines.
In the midst of all this turmoil, Chelsea must move quickly and carefully in the transfer maneuver if he does not want to see his new players only to be spectators in European soccer competitions next season.
