News UK has reported higher revenues as it continues to shift to digital publishing, although the latest report suggests that profits are still relatively limited.
Turnover for the Murdoch empire rose to £106.9m in the year to June 2025, up from £97.9m, while pre-tax profits rose to £2.8m, from £928,000.
The business, which is part of News Corp, is at the center of the group’s UK publishing operations, supporting titles such as The Sun and The Times as they move away from print media.
Digital growth comes with higher costs
These results reflect a wider shift in strategy at News UK, where subscription growth and digital expansion are increasingly driving revenue.
The Times continues to build its paid subscriber base, while The Sun refines its mixed advertising and paid content model after returning to a partially paid model.
Elsewhere, the group has also expanded its presence in audio, video and streaming, as well as investing more heavily in data, AI and platform development.
However, it appears these profits were offset by transformation costs, with gross profit reaching £2.6m during the period.
Most of the revenue appears to be absorbed by operational costs such as technology investments and printing infrastructure maintenance costs.
The report also shows that the business remains closely integrated with the wider group, with revenue including internal costs related to supporting News UK’s wider operations.
The update comes as News Corp’s UK branch enters a more stable phase following the resolution of its ownership structure last year which secured the future of its newspaper assets under Lachlan Murdoch.
PakarPBN
A Private Blog Network (PBN) is a collection of websites that are controlled by a single individual or organization and used primarily to build backlinks to a “money site” in order to influence its ranking in search engines such as Google. The core idea behind a PBN is based on the importance of backlinks in Google’s ranking algorithm. Since Google views backlinks as signals of authority and trust, some website owners attempt to artificially create these signals through a controlled network of sites.
In a typical PBN setup, the owner acquires expired or aged domains that already have existing authority, backlinks, and history. These domains are rebuilt with new content and hosted separately, often using different IP addresses, hosting providers, themes, and ownership details to make them appear unrelated. Within the content published on these sites, links are strategically placed that point to the main website the owner wants to rank higher. By doing this, the owner attempts to pass link equity (also known as “link juice”) from the PBN sites to the target website.
The purpose of a PBN is to give the impression that the target website is naturally earning links from multiple independent sources. If done effectively, this can temporarily improve keyword rankings, increase organic visibility, and drive more traffic from search results.
